Abe Hogan
Psychiatry Provider,
PMHNP-BC

Abraham Hogan is board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a background in neuro trauma intensive care and outpatient psychiatry. Before becoming a psychiatric provider, Abe spent several years as a Neuro Trauma ICU nurse, caring for patients and families during some of the most vulnerable and life changing moments of their lives. That experience shaped the way he sees people, the brain, suffering, resilience, and the deep connection between emotional and physical health.
Abe's clinical approach is rooted in seeing the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
When Abe meets with patients, he wants to understand the full picture. This includes symptoms, medical history, psychiatric history, sleep, stress, nutrition, relationships, substance use, family patterns, daily routines, and the story behind how someone got to where they are. Abe's goal is not to rush to label people, but to understand what is actually happening and build a treatment plan that feels thoughtful, realistic, and aligned with the person sitting in front of him.

Abe works with adolescents and adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood concerns, substance use, treatment resistant depression, and men’s mental health. He especially enjoys working with young adults, college students, young professionals, and people who may look like they are functioning on the outside, but internally feel scattered, stuck, restless, overwhelmed, ashamed, or disconnected from who they want to become.
Abe believes good psychiatric care should feel human. It should create space for honesty, curiosity, and hope. Abe wants patients to feel safe enough to say the real thing, ask the real question, and be met with both compassion and clarity. Medication can be an important part of treatment, but I also believe healing often requires looking at the larger picture: sleep, stress, purpose, faith, relationships, lifestyle, trauma, identity, and the nervous system. Many people come into care feeling like they have failed themselves, when in reality they have been trying to survive with patterns they have never fully understood. One of Abe's favorite parts of this work is helping patients make sense of those patterns, rebuild trust in themselves, and begin moving forward with more confidence and self compassion.
Abe's passion for psychiatry comes from a deep belief that people are not meant to stay stuck. He has seen how quickly life can change, both in the ICU and in mental health care, and he considers it a privilege to sit with people in the middle of that process.
Outside of work, Abe lovea spending time with his beautiful wife, Katelyn, and their two sons. He enjoys finding the best toddler-friendly playgrounds in their zip code, connecting with friends and family, hosting tailgates for IU football, exercising, watching and playing golf & tennis, finding good coffee, and following all sports year round. Abe co-founded a golf journalism organization with the intent of making it to Augusta under media rights; ask him about it sometime!
